Orthopaedics East & Sports Medicine Center

Physical Therapy

Our physical therapy department gives Orthopaedics East & Sports Medicine Center patients the convenience of receiving physical therapy in the same facility as their orthopaedic care as well as benefiting from the close coordination of care between the therapist and the physician.

Currently we have two physical therapists and one physical therapist assistant on staff totaling more than 70 years of experience. Tom White, LPT (Licensed Physical Therapist), and a graduate of East Carolina University, comes to the practice with more than 34 years of experience. Sharon Bullard, LPT and also an ECU graduate, has been practicing for more than 20 years. Their assistant, Kirsten Stoakes, LPT-A, offers more than 17 years of experience.

Physical therapy appointments can be made by calling 757.BONE (757.2663).

Custom Designed Recovery Programs

The Physical Therapy Department at Orthopaedics East & Sports Medicine Center tailors recovery programs to meet specific needs. Our programs aid patients whether they are overcoming an isolated injury, recovering from surgery, or adjusting to life with a long-term disability (such as the loss of a limb). We can achieve this by providing our patients with reconditioning, strength training and living skills development. For sport-related injuries, we create recovery programs designed to return you to your sport at a level of performance equal to or higher than it was before your injury.

Physical Therapy

We work with you to increase your ability to function, decrease pain and increase mobility. This may encompass a variety of methods, including specific exercises, manual therapy, heat treatment, ultrasound and more.

Strength Training

Our strength training can help patients learn how to maximize results while minimizing risk of injury.

Health Education

Health education programs are available to individuals, groups and organizations on a variety of topics.
