Happy retirement Michael – Congratulations Nichole

After more than 40 years in healthcare, the last eight with Orthopaedics East, Practice Administrator, Michael Brohawn, is announcing his retirement, effective January 12, 2023. Nichole Alley, currently Director of Human Resources, will be taking over as Practice Administrator.

Mr. Brohawn began his career while in high school at the then Pitt County Memorial Hospital in Greenville, NC. Following his graduation from NC State in Industrial (systems) Engineering, Brohawn worked in various leadership roles for healthcare institutions including Indian River Memorial Hospital (Vero Beach, FL), Kaiser Permanente of North Carolina, Wake Emergency Physicians (Raleigh, NC), The Emergency Group (Honolulu, HI), and, most recently, with Orthopaedics East & Sports Medicine Center in his hometown of Greenville, NC.

Mr. Brohawn’s career and leadership contributions to the healthcare field has been recognized by his peers and organizations alike. He has served as the State President of the NC Medical Group Management Association (NCMGMA) and the Chair of the Eastern Section of the Medical Group Management Association (MGMA). In 2009, he was recognized by MGMA as the national Legislative Liaison of the Year and by NCMGMA as Administrator of the Year.

Mr. Brohawn and his wife, Margie, plan to retire in their hometown of Greenville, NC. Both have a love for traveling and new adventures, and they are excited to continue their explorations.

Ms. Alley has been with Orthopaedics East for almost two years and previously spent four years in various healthcare leadership roles.

We sincerely thank Michael for his leadership and contributions to our practice and the Greenville community, and we are also excited for the transition to Nichole’s leadership.
