What is an Arthroscopy?

Arthroscopy (scope) is a minimally invasive orthopedic procedure surgeons use to diagnose and treat joint problems via a small incision using advanced technology to visualize inside the joint. Arthroscopy is an extremely valuable procedure and option, as it is generally easier on the patient than “open” surgery. Most arthroscopic surgeries are outpatient procedures.

Reconstruction vs. Replacement

Joint reconstruction focuses on repairing the damaged joint. Joint replacement focuses on replacing the damaged joint completely (or partially) with prosthetics made from metal, plastic or ceramic materials.

Non-Operative Treatments

The advancement of medicine, technology and treatment has significantly expanded the options for non-operative treatments (vs. surgery). Non-operative options include, but are not limited to, platelet- rich plasma (PRP), stem cell therapy (BMC), amniotic injection therapy, cortisone injections, viscosupplementation and physical therapy.

Physical Therapy

Our Physical Therapy Department specializes in getting you back into action with a recovery plan. Our staff are skilled in orthopedics and sports medicine and work directly with your physician to tailor a treatment program that ensures the best possible outcome for you.
