Nick Poulos, MD

About Dr. Poulos

Dr. Poulos is an orthopedic sports surgeon specializing in the treatment of shoulder, hip, and knee conditions. He is passionate about helping patients return to the activities they enjoy, whether that means competing in sports, pursuing hobbies, or simply living comfortably day to day.
His approach to care is centered on communication and developing a treatment plan that aligns with each patient’s goals. While he specializes in surgical treatment, Dr. Poulos believes surgery should generally be considered a last resort and that many orthopedic conditions can be successfully treated with non-operative care when appropriate.
Dr. Poulos earned his medical degree from the Medical College of Virginia, now VCU School of Medicine, completed his orthopedic residency at VCU Orthopedics, and went on to complete an Orthopedic Sports Medicine Fellowship at the University of Virginia. His specialized training includes hip arthroscopy, cartilage restoration procedures, and treatment of patellofemoral instability.
Having spent summers growing up in Emerald Isle with his extended family, Dr. Poulos has a longstanding connection to Eastern North Carolina and is excited to serve the community he has always loved.
