Bone Health
Bone health is important at every age and stage of life. Loss of bone strength can lead to osteoporosis, which afflicts many and may lead to the need for more serious interventions, such as total joint replacement. The team at Orthopaedics East & Sports Medicine Center will work closely with you to provide a comprehensive, personalized care plan to keep your bones strong and healthy.
Braces, Casting & Splints
Your provider may order a brace, cast or splint to protect injured bones and soft tissue. The brace, cast or splint holds the bones in place while they heal and typically reduces pain, swelling, and muscle spasms. Orthopaedics East has a certified cast technician who assists with applying braces, casts and splints for our patients.
Durable Medical Equipment (DME)
Durable medical equipment (DME) is devices for extended use to aid in your treatment, recovery or rehabilitation. This may include, but is not limited to, such devices as walkers, walking boots, wraps, braces or post-surgical therapeutic devices. If DME is recommended by your Orthopaedics East & Sports Medicine Care Team, we offer in-house access to such devices for our patients or coordinate access with local partners.
Fracture Care
Fractures are broken bones, partial or complete, often resulting from trauma (e.g., accident), osteoporosis or overuse. There are many types of fractures: stable, open-compound, and oblique, to name a few. If you are experiencing swelling, tenderness, bruising or a bone deformity, schedule an appointment with your Orthopaedics East Care Team or stop by our Weekend Extended Care Clinic to start your recovery today.
Orthotics
Orthotics are external devices such as splints or braces that help patients control, guide or immobilize an extremity or joint, reduce weight-bearing forces, aid in the rehabilitation of a fracture following removal of a cast, and/or correct the function of a body part to alleviate pain. Orthopaedics East carries a variety of orthotics. Your orthopedic physician and care team may recommend an orthotic device for your treatment.
Pediatric Orthopedics
Pediatric orthopedics specializes in the treating children, from newborns through teenagers, whose musculoskeletal (bone, joint, or muscle) system is still growing. The unique nature of pediatric orthopedics is requires advanced training and extensive experience. With over 100 years of collective experience and an average tenure of more than 15 years at our practice, Orthopaedics East & Sports Medicine Center is Eastern North Carolina’s leader in adult and pediatric orthopedic care.
At Orthopaedics East & Sports Medicine Center, we recognize the importance of post-surgical rehabilitation for enabling our patients to recover and safely return to their daily activities as soon as possible. Our licensed physical therapists use a variety of techniques and personalized exercise programs to optimize recovery. We offer 7 a.m. appointments on Tuesdays and Thursdays, and appointments can be made by calling (252) 757-2663.
Prescribe FIT

Through our collaboration with Prescribe FIT, our committed team is ready to assist you. Patients partnering with Prescribe FIT will be matched with a health coach, offering personalized guidance tailored to enhance their well-being from the comfort of their homes. The focus is on addressing the underlying factors contributing to orthopedic conditions and fostering positive changes in daily habits to promote lasting health improvements.
Regenerative Medicine: Ortho-Biologics
Allowing the body to heal itself can take a long time, and surgery is not always the best option. Regenerative medicine, or ortho-biologics such as platelet-rich plasma (PRP) and bone marrow concentrate (BMC), uses the latest in science and technology to stimulate and accelerate the healing process. Depending on your age, health, and the severity of your condition, we can offer you stem cell therapy, platelet-rich plasma therapy, and other non-operative treatments to get you back to work, back to play, back to your everyday.
Weekend Extended Care Clinic
Orthopaedics East’s Weekend Extended Care Clinic offers patients with very recent injuries, sprains, muscle pain or fractures the opportunity to be seen without an appointment by our experienced orthopedic care team. The Weekend Extended Care Clinic is open at our practice on Saturdays and Sundays from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. and provides convenient, efficient access to compassionate orthopedic care so you can avoid the time and expense of going to the emergency room.
Worker’s Compensation
Orthopaedics East & Sports Medicine Center is Eastern North Carolina’s expert in orthopedic care for work-related injuries covered under worker’s compensation (WC). We understand the unique challenges presented by the workplace and the value to both the employee and employer of early intervention, accurate diagnosis and comprehensive treatment. Your orthopedic care team will provide medical notes to the employer and carrier/adjuster within 48 hours of our evaluation and each office visit.
X-ray & MRI Imaging
Timely and accurate diagnosis is essential to quality outcomes and speedy recoveries. We use advanced X-ray and MRI imaging technologies to ensure you leave our practice with the confidence and peace of mind of knowing your orthopedic care plan is right for you.
